2011 EVENTS
In 2011, the museum will host a number of special events and we hope to see on board the Mackinaw for one or more of these exciting activities.
On June 5th, the museum will host the Second Annual Welcome Aboard Open House. Last year, 726 visitors climbed the gangway to tour the Mackinaw at no cost. Again this year, a free hot dog, chips and a soft drink will be provided to the first 250 visitors coming aboard at 11 am. Other special activities are also planned!
On June 11th, the Mackinaw, as a part of the Mackinaw Maritime Festival, will host a Cedarville Memorial and Blessing of the Fleet Service beginning at 9 am. For more information, visit www.mackinawmaritimefestival.com.
On July 4th, the museum will host an Independence Day Celebration culminating in an amazing fireworks display originating from the State marina next to the Mackinaw. Watching the fireworks explode directly overhead while seated on the fantail of the Mackinaw is nothing less than spectacular! Make your plans now as seating is limited! For more information, watch our website, www.themackinaw.org.
On August 13th, the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum will host its Fifth Anniversary Celebration and numerous special guests have been invited. At this special event, the final handoff of the Mackinaw to the museum will be recognized. Many special activities are being planned for this event and you won’t want to miss it!
As always, you can follow the exciting happenings aboard the Mackinaw by visiting www.themackinaw.org.
