William R. Shepler, President
CEO of Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry, Mr. Shepler is an administrator of all phases of the ferry business consisting of a fleet of 7 vessels and two hundred employees which annually transports 400,000 passengers to and from Mackinac Island. He also established the Circle Michigan tour group organization. Founding member of IMMM.
R.J. Fisher, Vice President
President of Great Lakes Michigan, Inc., Mr. Fisher’s business activities include over forty years in developing properties, creating business plans, and implementing start-up and management of several retail stores and four restaurants. He is a past president of the Mackinaw Area Chamber of Commerce, president of Mackinaw Memorial Parade, Inc., and past director of the Fort Michilimackinac Pageant Committee, Inc. Founding member of IMMM.
Dr. Roger Frederick Benter, Secretary
A practicing chiropractor for 32 years, Dr. Benter is a perennial recipient of the “People’s Choice Awards,” past distinguished president of the Cheboygan Kiwanis Club, past president of the Cheboygan Chapter of the Audubon Society, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church liturgist and treasurer of its men’s club, and a founding member of the Cheboygan Yacht Club.
Randall Powers, Treasurer
First Community Bank Branch President, retired, Mr. Powers owned the Cedarville Shell Station from 1999 to 2005 and was the First National Bank of St. Ignace Senior Vice President from 1983 to 1993. He currently serves on the Cheboygan-Otsego-Presque Isle Education School District (COPESD) Board of Education and Cheboygan Lions Club.
Thomas Spaude, Director
President and co-founder of Innovative Communications, Inc., an integrator of audio, video and data collaboration products specializing in distance education classrooms, video production systems, interactive mediated classrooms and custom collaborative solutions for K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. ICI has grown into one of the top ten system integrators in the Unites States with systems throughout the U.S. and in seven countries.
Charles Scott, Director
Established Petoskey-based Freeway Internet Services in 1995, Mr. Scott continues with Gaslight Media, providing websites and online applications for the travel and tourism industries. Founder and vice president of CCECPSCO, a non-profit volunteer organization for communications support for emergency and disaster services throughout Northern Michigan.
William K. Marvin, Director
In a career spanning thirty-three years, Mr. Marvin worked in the telecommunications industry with Michigan Bell as the director of Management Employment and Placement and director of Global Markets, Michigan. He wrote and presented customer quality and service seminars; also served as a consultant in the time and stress management fields. Mr. Marvin is the vice president of the Mackinaw Area Historical Society, was appointed to the Mackinac Island State Park Commission by Governor Snyder, and is a member of the Essence of Emmet historical collaborative.
David Morthland, Director
David is an Indiana native (and Mackinaw City summer resident) who is the Executive Office Manager for the Indiana Limestone Institute and is a Purdue graduate (Electrical Technology). He is an active HAM radio operator volunteering at various events such as FEMA emergencies, field days and aboard the Icebreaker Mackinaw Museum ship.
